'The Help to Grow fund is focused
on stimulating the smaller end of
the SME market, but many of the
businesses that will not qualify
do not have the funding to invest
in assets and training to grow
digitally themselves. Looking at the
construction industry as an example,
which is improving on collaborative
working, sharing technology and
digital enhancements, with some
joint procurements for Government
contracts now being seen,' said
Boorman. 'The Government could
consider funding initiatives for this
collaboration which is becoming
so prominent in the middle market
and providing to some of the larger
businesses with conditions attached
to collaborate with the supply chain to
create new digital enhancement'.
79 per cent of businesses said they
are likely to make capital investments
to expand their infrastructure in the
next three years. However, only 64
per cent of those surveyed thought
it would be easy for their business to
access the finance available.
